Description
This session will review the principles of acoustic design and how they affect indoor environmental quality, improving occupant comfort and well-being by using and understanding modern acoustical solutions and performance. We’ll learn about incorporating acoustics into the design process from concept to completion to ensure function, aesthetics and sustainability goals are being met and understand how acoustical standards, codes and guidelines can influence design decisions.

Sean Browne is the senior manager of the Research and Development group at Armstrong, where he leads a team of innovative engineers and scientists. He is responsible for the company’s Codes and Standards Program, which informs customers of the latest developments in acoustics and building regulations. He is also an active member of the Acoustical Society of America and ASTM International. He has engineering degrees from Florida State University and the University of Miami, and has written for various architectural and interior magazines. His research has been featured in the journals of the International Symposium on Room Acoustics and the Acoustical Society of America.

He has been widely featured as a communication and sound expert in the world's media.
