Often serving as effective intermediary organizations, design centers have empowered communities to have a voice with their local governments and have built capacity and leadership in important ways. They've also served as an effective mechanism for volunteer architects to profoundly impact their communities.
This considers the continuing work of design centers as they adapt to new challenges while reinforcing their democratic mission in their communities.
