Design-Build: Contractual Relationships, Risks and Rewards
Learn of the unique features in the AIA’s updated design-build agreements such as contractual relationships and liabilities through the presenters’ experiences.
Design-build documents can be used on small to large projects. During Design-Build projects, the owner enters into a contract with a design-builder who is obligated to design and construct the project. The design-builder then enters into contracts with architects and contractors, as needed.
This course will explore the unique features of the AIA’s updated design-build agreements and the key differences from the 2004 documents. Attendees will learn about the contractual relationships and liabilities set forth in these agreements and how to properly allocate risks and responsibilities in order to achieve a successful project. The presenters will discuss real-world scenarios to showcase the practical applications of concepts discussed.
Participants will understand the new issues and trends in design-build, and discuss business and practice implications to be considered by owners, design-builders, architects and contractors in order to fully understand their roles and responsibilities in projects that utilize the design-build delivery method.
