This South Los Angeles neighborhood is a thriving community for the arts. Anchored by the Vision Theater, formerly owned by Actress Marla Gibbs, the Theater is expanding upon new visions for the future. The new ‘vision’ for the Vision Theatre is to provide an arts venue for professional arts presentations and productions; a training center for diverse cultural talent reflective of South LA; and the production and presentation of diverse world-class theatrical performances, music, dance, and film festivals – along with a variety of cultural forums, community meetings, and conventions.
The village also hosts the African Unity Festival, The Martin Luther King Jr. Parade, Leimert Park Jazz Festival and more. This tour will end with a community event in Leimert Park Arts Square, which will feature live jazz music, vendors, and a chance to meet and interact with the local artists who represent Leimert park today. *The person in charge of the neighborhood is excited to host the event in the Arts square
