Lights of the Round: Part 1 – An Overview of the Role of the Lighting Designer
Explore the role of the lighting designer and the lighting design process.
A group of industry leaders representing Architects, Distributors, Engineers, Lighting Designers, Lighting Controls Specialists and Lighting Manufacturers gather to discuss current lighting industry topics. The panelists describe the lighting design process, lighting team dynamics, and supply chain communication. With the adoption of LED, the group covers expectation management as well as changes to lighting specification and project management. Offered in collaboration with the Illuminating Engineering Society.
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of; engineers, architects, lighting designers, distributors, manufacturers and lighting control specialists in the lighting design process.
- Explore the dynamics of the post-bid supply chain including pricing, substitutions and communication.
- Identify the importance of a lighting designer, and describe the influence they have on the team, and project.
- Explore factors of the lighting control design process, including key moments in the specification, interoperability concerns, and the role of a Lighting Control Specialist.
