The Power of Zero: Optimizing Value for Next Generation Green

Explore implications of “next generation green” by comparing construction costs of green projects, using Net Zero and other standards to quantify performance.


This course will explore the cost implications of building to “next generation green” standards. Panelists include the authors of the 2004 report, “Understanding the Cost of Green,” as well as practitioners who are building the greenest buildings and communities in the world. Statistical analyses will compare overall construction costs of the greenest projects, using Net Zero, LBC, COTE Top Ten, and Architecture 2030 standards to quantify performance, against industry standard projects. The analysis will compare costs for specific systems as well as overall costs so you will learn which technologies and design moves are the most impactful.
