Description:
The architecture profession has a tremendous amount of work to do regarding equity, diversity, and inclusion. Join this session to hear unique perspectives from vocal advocates. You’ll gain insight into the current state of affairs in architecture, at firms, and in society and how you can make a difference. The speakers will also share their own valuable experiences about their successes and failures in the ongoing struggle.
Learning objectives
- Review the history and current state of racism and inequity in the architecture profession.
- Hear experiences of Black Americans, Native Americans, and other people of color who pursue careers in architecture and work for equity in the profession.
- Understand some of the obstacles for professional growth that structural racism imposes.
- Learn some of the policies and best practices for creating more equitable workplaces in architecture.
