Obie Bowman

Obie was born in Santa Monica and grew up in the San Fernando Valley where, as a boy, he was traumatized by the paving of the Los Angeles River. This eventually played a part in his career decision to establish a small studio in a natural setting where he could focus on creating a limited number of thoughtfully designed projects rather than contend with the high volume required to sustain a larger office. Obie began on the Sonoma/Mendocino coast in 1971 and relocated to Dry Creek Valley near Healdsburg in 1993. His work is often recognized as insightful, exemplary, and respectful of the surrounding environment.
