Dave Conover has graduate and undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Catholic University of America. He has been involved with the development, adoption, implementation and enforcement of building construction regulations, focused primarily on energy use and technology acceptance, since 1976. During his 38 years involvement with the building industry at the global, national, state and local level he has held positions with the American Gas Association, the National Conference of States on Building Codes and Standards, the International Code Council and PNNL. He also served as the CEO of the National Evaluation Service a subsidiary of the three organizations who formed the ICC, focusing on evaluation of new technology for acceptance within building regulatory programs.
At PNNL he is currently focused on building energy codes and standards as well facilitating the deployment of new technologies such as energy storage systems in relation to health and life safety criteria in codes and standards. He is actively involved with ASHRAE as a member of the Standards Committee and Chairs their Code Interaction Subcommittee and recently served as a member of the ICC IgCC code development committee for energy and water. He is an active triathlete and serves as a CAT 1 race official for USA Triathlon.
