David Kaneda’s experience includes over three decades working in the building industry in North America and Europe. He has been the Electrical Engineering Principal for over 1 dozen LEED Platinum Certified projects, 5 AIA COTE Top 10, 5 Net Zero Electric Energy Building designs, and 5 Net Zero Energy Building designs, and his design for the IDeAs Z Squared Office, his headquarters in San Jose was the first ILFI Certified, net zero energy building in the United States. He currently has about 25 additional projects targeting Net Zero Energy and another 25 projects targeting LEED Platinum under design. He is a professional engineer, a registered architect and a LEED Accredited Professional in the US and a Chartered Engineer and European Engineer in the United Kingdom. He has a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the London Business School. David’s specialties include Net Zero Energy Building design, sustainable electrical engineering, managing plug loads, monitoring, renewable energy, lighting and daylighting design. David is frequently invited to speak at national and international conferences. He has lectured on sustainability and energy efficiency at Penn State, the University of Nebraska, Kansas State, and Stanford University. He has also published research on sustainable electrical system design at American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE): Summer Studies and the Rethinking Sustainable Construction: Next Generation Green Buildings Conference.
