Michael Lingerfelt, FAIA, LEED AP, is a high-energy executive with more than 34 years of experience in design and project delivery. His experience demonstrates an ability to lead large, complex projects and multi-disciplined design teams when he was Director of Project Architecture & Engineering for Walt Disney Imagineering and as Design Manager for Marriott Corporation. Recently, he has been the LEED Project Administrator for both Darden and Chick-fil-A in developing standards and solutions to make the restaurants more sustainable while retaining their brand.
Michael is currently serving as Chair of the AIA Disaster Assistance Committee and Retail Entertainment Knowledge Community, and was a panelist at BuildStrong Coalition Building Codes for a Stronger and Safer America Forum, the Build it Better Leadership Forum, and Florida Atlantic University Sea Level Rise Summit (2013). He participated in the Haiti Rebuilding Summits (2010 & 2011) and since 2008 has been a California Emergency Management Agency Safety Assessment Program (SAP) Trainer. To date he has trained over 1,379 architects, engineers, building officials and inspectors in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He has provided safety assessment evaluations for in New Orleans (2004) after Hurricane Katrina, Northridge, CA Earthquake (1994), Birmingham, AL tornadoes (2011), as well as fire and flood assessments in California. He recently became and instructor of FEMA’s HURRIPLAN Resilient Building Design for Coastal Communities course (2013) as well completing their Emergency Management Institute's Professional Series (2009).
