Brodie serves as General Counsel & Secretary to Perkins+Will, and has been in that position since the summer of 2006. Previously, he had more than nine years of prior experience as the general counsel of another industry-leading international design professional firm and three years of experience as corporate counsel for a groundbreaking pioneer in the architect-engineer specialty insurance brokerage business.
Brodie is known for his collaborative personality and in-depth knowledge of the professional, corporate and legislative intricacies relative to the running of an international architectural firm and the risks related to those operations. He has been involved in establishing international entities, mergers and acquisitions ranging from small partnerships to multi-national corporations and the successful resolution of substantial claims and negotiation and implementation of large transactional matters around the world. A passionate advocate for professional development and best practices, Brodie has been involved in developing and implementing training programs across four continents. Through a combination of quick wit and thorough presentation skills, he has enhanced the professional capacities of innumerable design professionals.
Brodie has an architectural degree from the University of California at Berkeley. He worked in the design profession for nearly seven years prior to embarking on a career in law. He is a member of the American Bar Association Forum on the Construction Industry. Brodie authored one of the seminal comparisons of A/E professional liability policies and has given testimony at the state level on professional licensure and registration matters.
