Keith R. Molenaar is the K. Stanton Lewis Professor and Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado Boulder. As dean, he leads more than 9,000 faculty, staff, and students in meeting the mission for the state’s flagship engineering college. His teaching and research focus on risk analysis and innovative project delivery methods. Dr. Molenaar has published more than 250 journal articles, technical reports, and conference proceedings. He holds degrees in architectural and civil engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder. Dr. Molenaar was elected to the Pan-American Academy of Engineering in 2012 and the National Academy of Construction in 2017. He was elected as a Fellow of the Design-Build Institute of America in 2019.

Sustainable, High-Performance Projects and Project Delivery Methods

Owners, architects, engineers, constructors, and public policy advocates are demanding that projects incorporate sustainable design and construction practices. Residential and commercial building sectors are responsible for approximately 8 percent of carbon dioxide emissions globally and approximately 40 percent of energy consumption in the United States.  The presentation of the research looks at Project Delivery Strategies, including Design Bid Build, CM at Risk, and Design Build and how they impact our ability to achieve our goals for high performing buildings and lessening our impact on the environment.
