Andrew Carlson , AIA, FDBIA

Andrew Carlson is a registered Architect and a Fellow of the Design-Build Institute of America with over 30 years’ experience. For the last twenty plus years he has worked for the Oklahoma National Guard in Various positions within their facility engineering program overseeing over half a billion dollars in Design-Build Done Right construction. From 2003-2009 he was the Colonel in charge of their engineering program. After retiring from uniformed military service, he works as an Army Civilian and serves as the Branch Chief of their Planning and Construction branch. He is a nationally recognized thought leader in the field of Design-Build project delivery in the public sector.

Owner Advisor in Design-Build, New Practice Area, New Revenue Stream

Through a panel of an owner and architects acting as an owner advisor in the AEC sphere, the speakers will discuss the importance of the owner advisor, why architects are a natural fit in this leadership role, and how architects can develop additional revenue opportunities in a new market segment. The panel also will discuss potential conflicts of interest as architects choose between providing traditional services and owner advisor services. This panel will share real-life stories of owner-advisor practitioners to inspire the audience on the values that owner-advisors bring to the table in design-build delivery.
