Spending the last 12 years at James Hardie (almost exclusively in the Multi-Family/Commercial space) Matt Petersen has become a seasoned building products professional with deep expertise in multifamily construction, exterior cladding systems, and architectural project development, bridging the gap between design, specification, sales, and execution. With extensive knowledge of fiber cement, engineered wood, stucco, EIFS, metal panels, and other façade systems, he’s spent much time specializing in helping architects, developers, contractors, and ownership groups make informed exterior envelope decisions.
In his current role as Multifamily National Segment Leader, Matt’s combining technical knowledge with strategic sales leadership, developing training programs, competitive analyses, and market strategies that support the US based teams win projects and grow market share for James Hardie.

Rainscreen systems are designed to protect a building's exterior and interior from moisture, improve thermal efficiency, and enhance the building's durability in areas prone to high levels of moisture and wind-driven rain. This course will explore the importance of designing resilient buildings and the dangers of moisture intrusion for building longevity. It will examine how rainscreens manage moisture, their components, and climate specific considerations. It will demonstrate how fiber cement siding and horizontal steel furring can be used to create a rainscreen system, including important installation considerations.
