Sarah Rodovalho is a Brazilian architect who has spent sixteen years moving between design and construction on over $1 billion in developments, and now works owner-side on hyperscale data center projects in Virginia. Her lane is construction contract administration, which is to say the part of a project where change actually shows up, and where the owner/architect/contractor relationship is built. Before data centers she delivered retail, transit, and healthcare work in Brazil and the United States.
Sarah is committed to advancing how the profession handles the construction phase, including her role on the AIA Construction Contract Administration Leadership Group and its education programming. She co-presented the CCA Open Forum at AIA26 and recently delivered a webinar for the PMI New Jersey construction community.
She is completing a PhD at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology and holds a master's in sustainable design and construction management from Thomas Jefferson University.

Construction Contract Administration: Managing Modifications and Associated Risk
This course will take a deeper dive into Contract Document modifications (Architect’s Supplemental Instructions, Construction Change Directives, Change Orders, and much more) during Construction Contract Administration (CCA), identifying the risks associated with different types of modifications and strategies for mitigating potential claims. Assessing modifications from the perspective of the Architect, Owner, and Contractor, the course will explain and build on fundamentals through highlighting emerging trends and using specific project scenarios. Participants will leave the session with a deeper understanding of the process, their role and risk within the construction phase, and an understanding of common pitfalls.
