Description
Window and door frames shape far more than sight lines and operation. In custom residential design, frame material choices influence window and door sizes, structural performance, thermal behavior, condensation risk, durability, maintenance, resilience, safety, and long-term homeowner satisfaction. Participants will learn how pultruded fiberglass is manufactured and how it compares to other composites, focusing on performance characteristics such as strength, durability, exterior finishes, certified mulling and design flexibility. The course concludes with an overview of Marvin’s fiberglass product collections and provides participants with application guidance to help make informed decisions on the best use cases for each product collection.
Learning Objectives
Discuss how fiberglass as a composite material provides predictable, sustainable performance characteristics for custom residential applications.
Explain the production of fiberglass composites and the advantages of the pultrusion process from a manufacturing and environmental perspective
Identify the performance characteristics of windows and doors made from pultruded fiberglass and how they help meet code requirements and the latest design trends that maximize light, air and views for homeowner and occupant well-being
Evaluate the sizes, performance, and options of Marvin’s fiberglass-based product collections to help make informed decisions on how to apply them in custom residential projects
